Pulp Fairy
A play for high school students. This play was written with the help of theater students at Frenship High School. When the production process began, I had no script. I interviewed each of the students about their interests, fears, nightmares, etc. and constructed the script around their themes. I wanted the students to do a play of which they truly felt ownership. They had just gotten done doing Mother Courage, and they seemed quite beaten down by it. The title came from Dylan Ross. Each of the character names are anagrams of the corresponding actor's name.
Topher Payne directed the Frenship production, and mounted a second production at Owasso High School in Tulsa.
These were my most enriching theater experiences, and I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity to do this.
